This weekend saw the surprise release of Gordon “Gordy” McQuilten’s album Double Stack iMac. Recorded between 2000 and 2008, it features some tracks originally intended for The Avalanches while Gordon was part of the group. Read more here.

Fellaheen Records: An Interview with Steven “Stav” Stavrakis
Fellaheen Records was an independent Australian label that unfortunately closed after only five years. They released the first music by locals Gerling and Ben Lee, as well as albums from international acts like Pavement and the Beastie Boys often with bonus tracks exclusive to Australia.

There’s currently three vinyl pressing plants in Australia. This wasn’t always the case, as during the 1990s when all of the major labels switched to CD there was only one. But in the past few years more have appeared as the popularity of vinyl has grown, and the need for local suppliers has too. Read more here.
